Who am I?
Hi, I’m Andrew Chang - I created the Web3 Roundup to share what I’m learning in this space. I’ve spent my career at the forefront of the technology industry in areas such as crypto/blockchain (Former COO @ Paxos, co-founding partner of Liberty City Ventures), video and adtech. I’m currently focused on exploring and investing in emerging technologies, particularly Web3 concepts that are in the earliest stages of development but have huge potential to change the way we live our lives.

Why I started Web3 Roundup
I’ve spent the last 10 years in crypto/blockchain which has naturally led my curiosity to exploring the next evolution of the internet - what most people have been calling “Web3.” My approach to learning about all these new ideas and concepts is to seek out experts and learn directly from their journey. I created this newsletter as a forum to document my exploration and share my learnings, since a lot of people are also curious about the space.
What is Web3?
Web3 is the idea that the next evolution of the web will be based on decentralization and token-based economics. This idea/concept is still in its infancy and still being defined, so this is roughly the definition I’m focused on right now.
Web 1.0 - Websites are mostly static pages, where users are consumers of information.
Web 2.0 - Users generate content on centralized platforms. They interact and collaborate with each other on centrally run platforms like Facebook. Those platforms collect and monetize user data.
Web3 - Many people describe Web3 as users interacting with each other through decentralized networks not controlled by central authorities. But “Web3” as a phase of the internet’s evolution is still very new, so still remains hard to define. It is often used as a catchphrase for what’s next in how we interact digitally.
